LTER & NCEAS Presentations
During my work at the Long Term Ecological Research (LTER) Network Office (housed at the National Center for Ecological Analysis & Synthesis; NCEAS) I had the opportunity to give some presentations on various facets of my work. Those that were not designed collaboratively are hosted here! For more information about the LTER Network, check out lternet.edu.
Synthesis Skills for Early Career Researchers (SSECR)
As part of the 2025-29 renewal proposal to the National Science Foundation the LTER Network Office proposed a year-long course to train early career researchers in synthesis work. Synthesis skills differ from primary research skills because synthesis requires a focus on collaboration as well as an increased emphasis on quantitative skills. Synthesis Skills for Early Career Researchers (SSECR) is that course and it was first offered in fall of 2024 to a cohort of ~30 students (about 1 per LTER site). The course materials can be found at lter.github.io/ssecr.
NCEAS Roundtable
Invited to give a 2024 presentation at NCEAS’ monthly “roundtable” presentation–this is comparable to a department seminar.
LTER Community Call
Marty Downs and I co-presented at the March 2024 LTER Community Call.
